Esri Canada acquired Ratio.City, a Toronto-based software and data company, in September 2023. This acquisition has expanded Esri Canada’s community planning solutions portfolio and allows you to complement your ArcGIS-based planning systems and workflows with Ratio.City’s innovative web-based GIS data and tools to accelerate and optimize city planning and land development.

Our Story

Ratio.City was founded by Monika Jaroszonek and Erin Morrow to help city builders and planners reduce inefficiencies in the planning process and focus on building exceptional solutions faster and better.

Monika and Erin’s shared background in urban planning and development made them intimately aware of the challenges faced in the preliminary planning phases. As a former architect, Monika handled millions of square feet in mixed-use development and needed a faster way to mock up designs. Erin came at the problem from a planner's perspective and needed easier access to zoning and policy information.

Together, they realized that a data-driven platform could break down silos and make fragmented information more accessible to city builders. From there, they built Ratio.City from the ground up—combining data analysis and site visualization into a powerful planning tool.

At the heart of Ratio.City is a deep belief in the power of collaboration. Our platform brings public and private sector stakeholders together around a shared source of truth, accelerating decision-making and enabling more informed, confident planning. Today, we’re proud to host the largest zoning and policy data platform in Canada—covering more than 50 cities and continuing to grow. We're not just building a tool—we're helping shape the future of urban development, together.
